For the second event in our THINK Summit series, we wanted to bring leading experts from the data sector together to discuss the topics that matter to them most. Unsurprisingly, after the success of our previous events, c-suite executives from a vast array of organisations quickly expressed their interest.
Hosted by iSource Group, the IT, digital and change management experts and Oakland Group, the experts in solving complex operational problems and sponsored by Snowflake, the data warehouse built for the cloud, those attending were in good hands. With a collective mission to ignite conversation between the right contacts and lead the Northern data community, it made sense for this business trio to make the event happen.
As guests started to arrive on a drizzly Thursday afternoon, it wasn’t long before the conversation was flowing and new connections were being made between peers from across the sector.
The tables were set and the goody bags were placed on the chairs – we all love free merchandise! – as more than 100 data and analytical specialists went to their respective rooms to focus on a topic that would ignite conversation and get the event off to a flying start.
With each table taking a different subject, and sponsors bringing their thoughts and experiences along to share, there was no lapse in the chatter or the connections that were being made, which is exactly what the THINK Summit series is all about.
Just one of the benefits of our model is that guests are able to meet with peers that they otherwise may not have come across. Being in the position to facilitate these introductions means that we are meeting with our objectives and creating a stronger community of people with shared interests.
As guests descended from their respective round tables, they were welcomed back to the bar with canapés and drinks before heading to a three-course meal. Not content with providing an excellent opportunity to meet, learn, listen and share, THINK Summits is also about continuing that engagement so that stronger and long-term relationships can develop.
After dinner we welcomed not one but two speakers to the stage; Louise Bevan, Head of Business Intelligence, Vodafone and Peter Jackson, Director, Group Data Sciences, Legal and General and Co-author of The Data Driven Transformation Playbook and Chief Data Officer’s Playbook. Sharing their stories, the room was captivated and for the first time all evening fell silent as people took everything in.
Just after 10pm we waved goodbye to our data experts and industry heavy weights knowing that they had come as a guest but left with so much more than just a goody bag. We very much hope that this will be the start of a number of connections that will lead to bigger and better things.
